Lab Protocols
Lab Policies:
- Always leave the area cleaner than you found it. Clear and clean tabletops of materials, testing equipment, etc. after use.
- Change your gloves if they become contaminated with EGaIn, uncured polymers, or other materials that could easily spread.
- Clean contaminated surfaces immediately. If you see EGaIn, uncured polymers, or fluids on a surface – clean immediately! This includes flooring.
- Please communicate in English if working around others. When working in a shared space, it’s important that others can understand what you are doing and anticipate activities in their immediate vicinity
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times! PPE: lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, and shoe covers.
- No lab coats, gloves, or shoe covers outside of the lab space to reduce contamination of other spaces.
- Vacation: I generally like the N2 policy that is used by most tech companies. For example, if you want to take 5 days off, please give at least 25 days of notice (N2). There is no set number of days per year, however it is expected that you're in good standing in your courses and caught up on your research.
